Thermodynamics: Counting Microstates, the Partition Function, and Boltzmann Equation
1 year ago
1
In this lecture I give an introduction to statistical physics. The ideas of microstates and macrostates are expanded upon. The partition function is derived based on the counting of microstates constrained by the conservation of energy and particle number. The Boltzmann equation, relating the number of microstates and entropy, is derived. (F22_L09)
