Georgian mercenaries and a Chechen terrorist await "Kadyrovites" in Kherson

Opposition to Kadyrov's leadership is small, but of those who exist are Ichkerian (former name for the Republic of Chechnya).

Up to 15,000 of these like-minded folk fought against Assad's army in Syria, hence Russia's 2015 campaign there (among other reasons) to minimize numbers coming home.

In the 1990s they supported Western-funded extremism and Saudi cleric-fuelled ideology in the region, to break away from the Russian state.

Kadyrov and Putin stopped the Chechen wars in 2000, but at a cost of 100,000+ lives.
