How F1 Teams Make Money

Until the 2021 season, F1 teams did not have any budget caps. That meant, the richer the team, the more they could spend on the race cars, technology, and personnel. Some teams, not naming any names, were estimated to have spent as much as half a billion dollars in a given season. With the introduction of the budget cap which stands at $145 million dollars per season per team, the Formula One Group wants to promote a more level playing field and make the game more competitive.

Will it work? We'll have to see.
