Medusa (Ancient Greek: Μέδουσα, Médousa, meaning "protector," "guardian," from μέδω, médō, "to protect."[1][2]) is a figure from Greek mythology. Along with Steno and Euryale, she is one of the three Gorgons, daughters of the sea gods Phorcus and Ceto. According to myth, the Gorgons had the power to petrify anyone who crossed their gaze, and of the three, Medusa was the only one who was not immortal.
