I blamed my stepfather for everything wrong with my life for a long time. It was easy to justify hating him because he certainly didn't make my life easy. However, nobody knew how much hate was inside of me. I was so good at internalising it, that my best friend was surprised to discover that I exploded one day and all my suppressed thoughts, feelings and emotions came to the surface. For additional context, I never knew my biological father. I've only ever known my stepfather as "Dad."
