Noble Prize winner Diamond confesses 'obsession' for banks

Professor Douglas Diamond of the University Chicago, who won this year's Nobel Economics Prize, was honored by his colleagues on Monday (October 10). Diamond argued that bank runs, one of the central points of his research, can become self-fulfilling, leading to the collapse the financial system. Diamond also said that central bankers need to be careful about the rate at which they withdraw liquidity.
