Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Not the Most Subtle Assassination...

They do fight good. Still, my fist - is better!

Assassin's Creed is the only series in history which the gameplay never changing for yearly releases is something that people enjoy about it.

The story is based on the fact that humanity as we know it was actually created by a precursor race of big brain bois called the "First Civilization" and were actually meant to be mindless slaves - but some of the first civilization saw that humanity was sentient and deserved a chance to be free.

Regardless of any of that Krillin used the Solar Flare technique and now they're all dead, two factions fight over the scraps from the dinner table and later on you realize what mindless ideologues with no nuance the "good guys" are. Stabby stabby bring duh freedom and stuff.

You know all this because of the machine called the Animus Ex Machina, a ridiculous machine that can tap into conveniently stored genetic memory and simulate your ancestors' environment - ironically this bit of lore saves a bit of face since that would explain some of the hilarious bugs that plague this series.
