Our family attended the 100th Celebration in 2012 - my mother, who went to be with the Lord in 2017 - really enjoyed it! I hope you do as well.

Columbus Fountain stands at the center of the plaza directly across from Union Station. The centerpiece of the plaza across from Union Station is the marble Columbus Fountain. At its center is a shaft surrounded by four eagles supporting a globe displaying the Western Hemisphere. Projecting from the shaft is the prow of a ship, with a winged figure symbolizing Discovery, bearing a 15-foot statue of Christopher Columbus. Male figures on either side of the shaft represent the “Old” and “New” Worlds. Flanking the semicircular fountain are two lions.

Union Station Plaza was designed as a grand forecourt to the station. Sculpted by Lorado Z. Taft and completed in 1912, Columbus Fountain is one of the key elements designed to complement the imperial grandeur of the station’s facade.
