The fight went the full 15 rounds and Gavilan won by a unanimous decision.

Gavilan was the more accurate puncher, landing the cleaner, harder shots, but Graham was relentless in his attack, never backing down or giving an inch. In the end, Gavilan's superior boxing skills and technique were just enough to edge out a victory on the scorecards, much to the delight of the New York crowd.
