Fulfilling the Royal Law with Love and Mercy pt 1

James is going to continue on the partiality argument by telling the church that if you do show partiality, you are in violation of the royal law which equates to a sin against God. James provides an if/then construct by stating, if you break one law you are guilty of breaking all the law. James looks at the law as being unity or as a whole that cannot be treated or followed on an individual basis. James also views the royal law as the kingdom law issued by the King (God). Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords and He takes the OT laws and provides an interpretation of the most important law in Matthew 22:37-40. Once again we are reminded that James audience is predominantly Jewish so they know about the laws which James is referencing.
