The God Who ”Causes” Disaster | Hebrews 10:32-39

God controls all things, including tragedy and disaster. Whenever God does something, he always has more than one purpose in mind. God has unique and differing purposes for billions of people, and a multi-faceted plan for how each of today's events will bear fruit over the next 500 years. We must not judge the purposes of God prematurely. In other words, there are two pitfalls we must constantly avoid: 1) Believing God has no control over tragedy, and 2) Believing God is cruel.

“Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him dumb or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?” (Exodus 4:11 ESV)

“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” (Job 42:2 ESV)

“Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it?” (Amos 3:6 ESV)
