#TropicalStorm #Julia formed about 110 miles, or 175 km west of the northern tip of the #Guajira Peninsula on Friday, affected more than 4,000 families by the rains and floods, in the municipality of #Uribia
Approximately 520 houses were damaged by strong winds, and 80% of the population of the municipality was left incommunicado.
Julia became a Category 1 hurricane the next day, as it passed through the islands of #SanAndrés and #Providencia with sustained winds of up to 120 km/h, or 74 mi/h, threatening with huge waves, and as much as 12 inches of rain.
The impact of the hurricane has left no victims, however it did cause several material damages.
Hundreds of houses were left without roofs, uprooted trees fell on the streets and structures, and power service was suspended.
After affecting in total about 19,000 families in the north of Colombia, 'Julia' began to move away across the Caribbean Sea, towards the coast of #Nicaragua
