The 40th president of the United States Ronald Reagan was the man in charge during some of the cold war with the Soviet Union. Still under Communist control but with a charismatic new leader in Mr Gorbachev. Reagan and the Russian leader became closer than perhaps any of their other world leaders had to that point.

In June 1987 president Reagan visited Berlin to make what would become a historic speech in front o the Brandenburg gates. Here he called for the Soviet leader to first open the gates. Followed by his now famous words, Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall. It would take another two years before the events of November 9th, 1989. When the Berlin wall would fall under a peaceful revolution of the people.
