Des Moines Challenge
Robert Burridge is good
Competing as an amateur
Won college amateur nationals 2022
Best elite series this year
95 Ledgestone
44 OTB
42 DGLO
His composure during the final round was amazing
Never really seemed nervous
Seemed focused
Acted like he’d been there before and belongs there
Didn’t get down after the bad skip
That’s how it goes sometimes
Spoken like a true professional
Tried to put the pressure on Simon and Simon hits the putt
Simon Lizotte
Third elite series win of the year
Tied with Wysocki
Last few tournaments haven’t been great
26 Ledgestone
22 Idlewild
16 European Open
10 DGLO
He had to birdie out from 14 to force the playoff
It was a shootout through the 4 playoff holes with sone weird stuff
Mando, Mando, wherefore art thou Mando
Who knew changing the mando rules would end up in an Elite Series controversy
Sarcasm
Yes it was bound to come up on coverage at some point
Given the few of mandos on tours it came quicker than expected
The rule confused people at the beginning and the clarifications haven’t helped
Couldn’t clearly tell if he entered the restricted area
It’s raining, its pouring, the old man is snoring
Had a rain delay for the last few cards
They had to play two rounds on Saturday
Seemed like a lot of complaining online
Deal with it you're a pro
Sometimes weather happens

August 22nd Pierce went to emporia country club to practice
An employee gave her a cart key
Threw a few shots
Young man approached saying the course was closed
Course was closed Monday for members only
She asked about becoming a member to practice
A confirmation packet was sent out July 25th stating
“The Emporia Country Club and the Supreme-18 DGC at Jones Park are open for practice before Pro Worlds from dawn to dusk without charge, starting on Friday, August 26th, 2022. The Supreme 18 DGC at Jones Park is in a public park and can be practiced between dawn and dusk on days before August 26th unless another event is planned on site. The Emporia Country Club is a private facility and is pay-to-play. If players want to practice the course before August 26th, they need to check the disc golf course schedule and pay the greens fee to play.”

According to worlds requirements
Tournament layouts aren’t required until 4 days prior to the start for practice
TD Doug Bjerkaas is compliant with the reservation starting 8/26
A little later a woman was running down the fairway saying she’s calling the cops
There is communication dispute between Pierce and the ECC Staff
Nate Perkins, her caddy stated that Pierce was insistent on becoming a member or renting the facility for her and other players to practice
Secondhand sources claim Pierce was extremely rude and flaunted her wealth in the conversation with ECC staff
ECC declined to comment
Pierce made a statement through her agent, Blake Shaffer of Shaffer Sports Management
“When Paige asked to speak to a manager, the request was denied. Paige believed this to be a miscommunication. She was then told by another employee of the country club that they were calling the police. Paige collected her things and decided to leave the course. She was not escorted from the course and was not approached by any police. This is a non-issue and a misunderstanding as she was trying to practice for the World Championships only 8 days before they begin. Paige is looking forward to competing and is focused on winning her 6th World Championship.”
Police were dispatched but did not encounter Pierce
Jeff Jacquart PDGA Director of Competition said this to the Emporia Gazette
“I can’t express enough our disappointment on our organization’s end. Sometimes these players just get a little too demanding and don’t understand the amount of work it takes to make these events happen and the partnerships that are created, and we really don’t like damaging partnerships.”
Pierce asked if the OB lines could be painted at Jones Supreme early this past Monday
Initial plan was to line them Thursday afternoon after the city mowed for the last time before worlds
If nothing else this is another bad look for the PDGA, Dynamic Discs, and the local disc golf scene
