Kilcashel Stone Fort is one of the Western Stone Forts situated in the townland of Kilcashel, approx 1km from the Heritage Centre of Kilmovee.

These stone ringforts or cashels are known throughout Ireland but are specially found in the West and were built around 500 to 800 AD. The impressive Kilcashel Stone Fort is over 30m in diameter and is constructed of a singular circular wall 5m thick and 3m high. It contains a souterrain, two internal chambers, four sets of V-shaped steps set and remnants of two stone houses. The two internal wall chambers are aligned to the morning sun between the winter solstice and both equinoxes.
