Zhan Zhuang also known as Standing Post or Standing Tree is a held standing meditation where you put the body into the best alignment for the free flow of Qi (life force) and remain in it for as long as you can. In Qigong, the slower we move or the stiller we are, the more energy we create. It’s a demanding posture that helps build strength and resilience in the body and as a mediation allows you to achieve calm and stillness while keeping the body physically engaged.

Standing still in this position contracts and loosens muscles and bones, helps circulation, and increases the flow of Qi around the body which altogether has amazing healing and beneficial effects on the body.

Start out doing a few mins and build up gradually to longer, some advanced practitioners stand for an hour or more!
