Princess Diana's Ford Escort Sells for $850K 🚙 #shorts

One week before the 25th anniversary of her death in a car disaster in Paris, a one-of-a-kind 1985 Ford Escort that had been customized for use by Princess Diana sold at auction for $850,000.Show more

According to Silverstone Auctions, the Escort was outfitted with two inside rear-view mirrors and a radio in the glove compartment for a bodyguard riding in the passenger seat.

After marrying Prince Charles in 1985, Diana kept the automobile for another four years until selling it in 1988.

According to Arwel Richards, a classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, the Escort is the type of car "you would see on a housing estate, not outside the palace," which is quite a contrast to the Rolls Royces, Daimlers, Bentleys, and limousines that are typically used to transport members of the Royal Family.
