Republicanism and Democracy: Freedom and Slavery

Many, perhaps most, Americans do not understand the differences between republican and democratic forms of government. In this video I explain those fundamental differences in a succinct fashion. The Founders established a Republic because they considered all government dangers to liberties, but democratic government more prone to tyranny. Republican government assumes people have rights and form government to protect those rights. Under true Democratic government, rights are only what 50+ percent of the people say they are. If 51% of all the people in the US voted to re-enslave Blacks, would that make it right? If your answer isn't yes, you're not a democrat!
