Suspect arrested after multiple vehicle break-ins in Atlanta

On 10/5/22 around 1:00 am, officers responded to 305 Centennial Olympic Park DR NW in reference to suspects breaking into vehicles in progress.

Upon arrival, officers canvassed the parking garage and noticed two vehicles that had broken windows. While canvassing, officers observed a male suspect wearing all black and a ski mask flee the scene. Officers continued canvassing for the suspect and located a suspicious

male standing in the lobby of a nearby apartment complex. Officers made contact with the male who stated he was there visiting a friend. However, the concierge confirmed the male did not have a valid unit number or name of resident. Officers detained the male for further investigation.

During the investigation, witnesses and victims were able to positively identify the male officers had in custody as one of the suspects involved.
The suspect was arrested and identified as Azair Simmons.

He was charged with loitering and prowling, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, battery to an officer (for spitting at officers and their police equipment during the arrest) and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
