Crimean Bridge Fire: Navigation of Ships in Kerch Strait Continues, two car spans collapsed
The movement of ships in the Kerch Strait did not stop despite a fire on the Crimean Bridge, the Russian Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport (Rosmorrechflot) said
Earlier, a local transport regulator told Sputnik that traffic through the Kerch Strait was temporarily suspended. Crimea railway authorities said that, on one of the sections of the Crimean Bridge, a fuel tank caught fire at the tail of a freight train. The movement of trains across the strait was suspended.
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to create a government commission in connection with the emergency on the Crimean bridge. This was announced on Saturday, October 8, by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The National Terrorist Committee explained the fire of seven train tanks with fuel by blowing up a truck. As a result, two car spans of the Crimean bridge collapsed. The shipping arch was not damaged.
