Phoenix, Arizona – On September 24, 2022 at 6:46 p.m., Phoenix Police shot and killed a man that was throwing rocks at police vehicles and officers. The incident occurred in the area of 19th Avenue and Tuckey Lane just south of Glendale Avenue. Officers were leaving a different scene and driving through the intersection when they "observed several items striking their vehicle," Sgt. Brian Bower said. Once the officers found out where the items were being thrown from they pulled into Tuckey Lane and found a man, identified as 34-year-old Ali Osman, throwing rocks at the car. Body cam shows Osman kept throwing the rocks at the officers. "The officer gave commands to stop, one rock was thrown and as the individual was preparing to throw the second rock that is when the officer-involved shooting occurred," Bower said. Osman was transported to the hospital but was died of his injuries. No officers or community members were injured during the incident.
