U Ba Khin (1899–1971), meditation master and layman, was one of the most extraordinary figures of our time. He took up meditation practice at about age forty while remaining in government service. He studied extensively under his guru Saya Thet Gyi, a well-known Burmese lay teacher. He
mastered practices of a number of types of concentration meditation or absorption and developed a most powerful technique for the practice of vipassanā insight meditation. This technique involves sweeping the mind through the body, giving special attention to the ever-changing play of sensations that can be perceived.

James Baraz introduces the teachings in reference to Jack Kornfields book Living Dharma.
