I am going to show you how to sew a quilt block using a 5" square and two 10" squares of fabric. You can use a layer cake like I did or yardage that you cut, or use up your scraps!! You can make a quilt or table runner any size, just add more blocks as needed.
After piecing the 12" block, press and trim square. Then cut 12" x 2.5" strips for sashing, and 2.5" square from scraps for corner stones. OR you could sew the blocks together with no sashing and it will make a secondary pattern with diamonds. Either layout looks amazing!! Add borders and quilt.
