A Swedish member of the European Parliament cut her hair at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday, October 4, in support of the ongoing protests in Iran sparked by the death in police custody of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. “Until the women of Iran are free, we are going to stand with you,” Sweden’s Abir Al-Sahlani said. As she cut a lock of her hair, Al-Sahlani proclaimed, “Women, life, freedom!” Iran Human Rights, a Norway-based group, has estimated that at least 154 people have been killed in Iran since the unrest over Amini’s death began in mid-September.
