In this video, the motion of bringing the thumb across the palm is flexion. The motion of flexion is occurring at the 1st carpometacarpal (CMC) joint of the thumb. 1st CMC flexion is demonstrated from a position with the thumb in a neutral resting location to a position with the thumb moving as far across the palm as possible as seen from a side or lateral view.
