Are Bank of America Certificates of Deposit a good way to generate passive income?

Good question.

If you deposit $100,000 in a Bank of America Certificate of Deposit for 37 months you will earn 0.05% interest. That is a very low return you are accepting. I don’t use Certificates of Deposit to generate passive income. I use them as collateral for loans. The only really useful thing a CD can be used for is as collateral to help you obtain a loan partially secured by the CD.

But as far as passive income they are not something that can generate you a good return for passive income investing. You will do better if you look at corporate income bonds of privately held companies to generate passive income.
