Labour used to have academics as MP’s (such as Brian Walden)

If you look back at the list of MPs elected in the 1964 United Kingdom general election, click on most Labour MP’s, and most seem to have gone to university.

Of curse today it would seem that Labour think you are far too thick to vote for academic and instead offer you often MPs who appear to be often not great.

Compare Labour MP’s from the past to such as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party who left school (it is reported) at 16 with no qualifications, then did some course at a college.

It reminds me of the BBC where as a child in the 1970’s the BBC treat the youth as smart people, with such shows as Ask the Family where children were given hard questions to answer. Even Crackerjack! Would give children hard questions to answer. But in recent years the BBV seems to think children are stupid and can only cope with programmes made for those with below intelligence, Mandy for example.

Perhaps if Labour had MP’s of quality, rather than tick boxes, they may be more popular.

I believe it is correct to say tick boxes as they have had (if not still do) women only shortlists.
