DPI or PPI. Which is Best for Printing Images in Books, and does it Matter?
No Affiliate Links, No Courses! Just my honest and personal opinion on all things self-publishing 🤙
Don't panic too much. I thought I would say that to start with. Amazon KDP would love to have all images 200dpi or over, but the fact is that I have used full-page images with dpi's of down to 100 and still had a great image printed. This video is a simple guide. Other variables could affect the image quality, such as how the image was captured and processed, for example.
DPI: Dots Per Inch: Example: 72dpi is 72x72 dots in an inch = 5184 dots. 300dpi is 300x300 = 90000. DPI refers to printed dots, as in dots made by a printer for physical publishing.
PPI: Pixels Per Inch: Refers to pixels on a screen such as a computer monitor.
DPI = Print PPI = Digital
