The Fog (A Poem For Hard Times)

They tell you to wear your heart on your sleeve
But I rather keep the anchors at home
They say open yourself up
I am open, a carcass for the vultures feast on
They say pursue your dreams
But all I have are nightmares
My reflections is somber
I pray he’s happier on that side
How many times have I played this same song?
How many times have I revived your image?
A rerun every night
She told me, "go and pursue your dreams, make yourself happy, go out into the sun and find your meaning"
But I linger in the haze
The fog creates images that only I can see
The smog aligns itself with my confusion, they lock hands and they dance
A veiled dance hidden from all
A hidden dance just for me
A dance of broken promises and broken dreams
A violent dance guarded by the haze
A dark dance guarded by the gloom
No light can get in
Nothing ever finds its way out
I ventured here on my own accord, and I plan to watch this eternal dance to the very end.
