Lowering the sugar level of commercially prepared foods and beverages will have a great impact on the health of Americans better than other initiatives to cut sugar like enforcing a sugar tax or burning sugary drinks in schools.

The way forward of reducing sugar in packed foods is to seek for national implementation program with voluntary sugar reduction targets, to enhance key improvements in health, healthcare-spending and health disparities in less than a decade.
