Acts 04: The Healing of the Lame Man and Opposition from the Temple, Acts 3:1-4:4

Hi SBC Family near and far,

Acts 3 is interesting. Seeing someone healed is always interesting since these kinds of maladies will all be healed in the kingdom. This one got the attention of the people to gather for Peter's sermon, which was met with opposition from the priests, Temple police, and Sadducees who did not authorize them to teach and who opposed the teaching of bodily resurrection. Yet, the church grew!

More on how repentance and faith are interchangeable terms in the Book of Acts and why I just refer to it as a repentant faith showing it is one act and not two separate acts. A bit about how God repented (Heb. nacham) in the Old Testament and how the Jews translated that word with the word repent (Gk. metanoia), and so obviously repent can't mean "turn from sin," which is so endemic to the church now it's hard to find a gospel presentation that doesn't say you must "turn from sin." Disaster folks, disaster. Much better to translate it as "change of outlook" or "change of mind." Now we are getting somewhere.

See attachment...and hopefully see you tonight!

Grace to you,
Jeremy
