A video has been published online which appears to show teenage girls heckling a member of Iran’s paramilitary Basij force, amid ongoing protests there over the death of a woman in police custody. The students in a girls’ school at which the man was giving an address, appear to be waving their headscarves in the air and shouting 'get lost, Basiji!’ at the speaker.

The protests sweeping the country erupted after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in police custody after being arrested for allegedly breaking the country’s strict hijab laws.

While the protesters claim their actions are spontaneous, Tehran has insisted the movement has been instigated by foreigners, citing arrests linked to the demonstrations, as well as the involvement of 256 members of outlawed opposition groups.
