Call For Teen Pregnancies to be Labelled "Statutory Rape"

The Free State provincial health department this week revealed that no less than 150 young girls aged 10-14 years old gave birth over the past five months in the province.

According to the SA medical journal, the number of 10-14 year old's to give birth have increased by more than 50% over the past five years.

The alarming statistics have resulted in a number of organisations calling for urgent intervention and prosecution of those responsible for the pregnancies.

Many are calling it for to be labelled for what it is - statutory rape.
