How did cannabis become illegal worldwide?

Upon asking this question, I was able to discover four key puzzle pieces. Obviously, there's more. Depending on who you are, whether you are a doctor, scientist, researcher, government offical, or like myself, an entrepreneur working within medical cannabis; each individual is going to have their own pieces of puzzle they want to put together.
