Your cell receptors start to resist insulin when you have insulin resistance. Pre-diabetes and diabetes result from insulin resistance as it worsens.Early treatment of insulin resistance can lower your chance of developing both pre-diabetes and diabetes. Doctors, however, hardly ever perform insulin resistance tests. The name of this test is HOMA-IR.Most people are unaware that at least 33% of the population has insulin resistance. Why does insulin resistance occur? It is brought on by elevated insulin levels, which are brought on by an excessive intake of sugar and carbohydrates. The American Medical Association advises against consuming more added sugar than 6 to 9 tsp per day.

The average teenager, on the other hand, consumes about 18.5 tsp of added sugar daily, compared to most adults who ingest at least 9 tsp.All carbs, with the exception of fiber, break down to sugar. The average person consumes more than half a pound of sugar each day, including sugar from carbohydrates.Recognizing the warning symptoms that you're consuming too much sugar will help you modify your diet and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
