Understanding Crisis (This video will be deleted. )

Counselor and professor Dr. Scott Floyd has practiced and taught crisis counseling for decades. Now he brings his expertise to this course to teach you how to be ready to serve in the midst of trauma, loss, and tragedy.

All Christians, especially those who provide pastoral counseling, should have training to minister to those in crisis. This course is designed to help you understand the nature of crisis events, how individuals are impacted, and how to provide effective aid during and following times of crisis.

Dr. Floyd provides practical advice about what to do—and what not to do—following tragic events. Specialized topics include how to work with children and teenagers in crisis circumstances and how to develop a crisis response team in your church. The concluding session helps deal with the stress, burnout, and secondary trauma that often accompanies crisis ministry and counseling.
