Germany will deliver the first of four IRIS-T to Ukraine that can stop even a nuclear attack

1. Germany has announced that it will deliver a highly advanced anti-aircraft system to Ukraine in “a few days”. The platform can help Kiev destroy the hundreds of Iranian-made drones Russia has bought for this war, but it can also intercept Kalibr and Iskander missiles, which can carry nuclear warheads.

The system, IRIS-T SLM, developed by Diehl Defence, is one of the best in the world. Germany is being pressured by Western allies to provide more weaponry to Ukraine, including modern Leopard 2 tanks. Until now, Berlin has been reluctant because of its dependence on Russia for energy.

2. Germany will deliver the first of four IRIS-T advanced air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming days. German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht made a trip to the Ukrainian port city of Odessa on Saturday.

The system costs 150 million euros a piece and is recognized as one of the most advanced military equipment of its type in the world.
