This morning I was reading about Joseph, Jesus earthly father. He had just found out that Mary was with child. The narrative of it gives imagery. I can picture Joseph alone and deeply hurt. All of his joy turned into darkness.

He had to think about what he was going to do, mostly to protect her. As he thought about these things he fell asleep and the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in dream. He told Joseph that "he" was to call his name JESUS, and that "THEY" shall call Him Immanuel.

No, Joseph did not name Jesus “Immanuel,” but Jesus’ nature makes Him truly Immanuel, “God with us.” Isaiah told us to watch for Immanuel, the virgin-born Son of God. He will save us; He will reconcile people to God and restore creation to its original beauty.

We know Him as Jesus, but we can also call Him “God with us,” because that’s exactly who He is and always will be now and in heaven. Immanuel's heaven-land. "God with us." Jesus, as our Immanuel, is omnipotent, omniscient, perfection, and the Love that never fails—"with us."

When Jesus establishes His Millennial Kingdom, prophetically it will then be termed as spoken in Ezekiel 48:35..." and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.” This will be on earth during the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

The spiritual "Immanuel's Land" of Zion is hastening. My heart is comforted in deep restful peace no earthly power can give, and it is real. It is so real. God with me, God with you, God with us forevermore. We shall go in and "everlasting joy will crown our heads."

"To the glory of His name let me witness that in far away lands, in loneliness (deepest sometimes when it seems least so), in times of downheartedness and tiredness and sadness, always always He is near. He does comfort, if we let Him. Perhaps someone as weak and good-for-nothing as even I am may read this. Don't be afraid! Through all circumstances, outside, inside, He can keep me close.” ― Amy Carmichael
