Spookrijders - Klokkenluiders

Spookrijders was a rap group from Amsterdam.

The group rapped in Dutch. Spookrijders was founded in 1996 by Stefan Kuil and Clyde Lowell, shortly after they met Cliften Nille at producer Dr. doom.

In July 1999 Spookrijders performed at a neighborhood party on Mercatorplein. The neighborhood party, which also included Brainpower, Rewind, U-Niq, ended in riots.

Seven people were arrested and four officers were injured. In a report by AT5, metropolitan police spokesman Klaas Wilting called Spookrijders the instigator of the riots. The incident has since been referred to as the Mercator riots.

In response, Spookrijders released a video clip for Klokkenluiders. This clip shows the trio running around dressed as angry police officers.

They rob a mother with a small child, beat up a detainee, drive through Amsterdam and use alcohol and drugs. TMF refused to broadcast the clip during the day.
