A short cruise off the coast of Bali, Nusa Penida exists as an undeveloped paradise for those willing/able to brave the treacherous road conditions in pursuit of its natural beauty. Sure, it is possible to rent a car and driver, but where is the fun in that, huh?

We also recommend staying on the island for more than 1 day. Most tourists only come to Nusa Penida for a day trip, but in our opinion, that is much too little time to truly traverse the island and grasp its rustic charm.
