Los Angeles County, Rosemead, California – On October 19, 2021, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy shot a man at a body shop. The shooting happened at 4:50 p.m. in the 2000 block of San Gabriel Boulevard. Deputies had responded to a call about a man, identified as 25-year-old Adrian Abelar, who drove into the parking lot of an automotive body shop, acted erratically and threatened the business owner and employees if they didn’t fix his car. The deputies found Abelar seated in his car with a woman and saw he had a gun in his lap. When deputies ordered him to put his hands up away from his lap, Abelar refused and deputies grabbed him from the car. A physical struggle ensued between one deputy and Abelar and bodycam video shows Abelar reached for his waistband and a deputy fired a single round, striking Abelar, who was transported to the hospital. A handgun was recovered from the scene. Rosemead is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It is part of a cluster of cities, along with Alhambra, Arcadia, Temple City, Monterey Park, San Marino, and San Gabriel, in the west San Gabriel Valley.
