Armed man who tried to flee police on foot collapses from a drug overdose

On September 19, 2022, Devonshire patrol unit attempted to stop a man walking on the roadway. The man refused, clutched his bag and ran away.

Believing the man could be possibly armed with a firearm, the officers followed that man in containment mode. During the following, the suspect collapsed.

Officer Messaoudi observed that the suspect was having difficulty breathing and was possible overdosing, and requested an RA [Rescue Ambulance]. Officer Kubota sat the suspect up and monitored his breathing.

When the suspect went limp and unconscious, Officer Messaoudi and Officer Zauss took immediate action to perform life-saving measures.
