Farming in the Private Domain and alternative business models: a homestead convo with Theo Wadman

Theo and Kira Wadman founded Helios Farms LLC in 2012 with a long-term vision of decentralizing the US food supply back to local farms that use no agricultural chemicals or pharmaceuticals. Prior to that, health issues in their children born in the 1980s and 90s had revealed to them that a war on humanity was underway, and decentralization of food production back to local farms, and decentralization of everything, was a way to win the war.

In the last decade, Theo and Kira have pioneered Orthomolecular Regenerative Farming methods and a private-association farm business model to drive their vision into reality.

Theo was raised on a small farm in Silverton, Oregon, earned a Bachelor's degree with honors in Engineering Physics from Oregon State University in 1983 while working at Hewlett Packard as a writer, founded a publishing company in 1983 that sold books he authored about HP scientific and financial calculators, then founded the technical writing and software localization firm Terra Pacific Inc. in 1986, which he sold in 1997 and is still the Corvallis, Oregon office of translations.com. Theo was producer of a documentary film titled Grid Iron Gladiators available on vimeo.com, and he and Kira built a high-end recording studio business (Wild Rose Studios) in Corvallis, Oregon in the early 2000's.

The Helios Farms mission is a convergence of Theo's life experience applying his farming, technical, scientific, business, legal, culinary, and health sciences expertise to create a profitable and resilient livestock farming model. Under the pen name Theo Farmer, Theo is the author of the children's book Buttercup, Me, and Vitamin C, is a social-media advocate for provable Nobel-level microbiome and orthomolecular science, writes about food, health and farming in his blogs at www.hfpma.online and www.heliosfarms.com and substack, and has published three articles about farming and health in the peer-reviewed orthomolecular science library at orthomolecular.org.

Theo and Kira are Founding Trustees of The Orthomolecular Garden Church and Theo is a certified Private Membership Association advisor through the organization PMA Power.
