Durable Kids – Being Dad with Phil Lower, September 30, 2022

We are working on learning our Identity, Preferences, and Beliefs. Then we can figure out what holes to add doors to and how to soften our thick scarred walls because we are missing something.

A couple years ago, I bought my youngest a nice telescope and tripod for her to be able to observe the moon, planets, and the stars.

I remember the blood moon in an Aldi parking lot on a windy winter night.

The family went to a park last night to get a good chance to see Jupiter.

We weren’t able to see Jupiter last night because of the clouds from Hurricane Ian coming in over the next couple days.

My youngest was very disappointed and was crying a bit because she thought she would never see it again in her lifetime.

This brought up how we can’t control things that outside of us. Having to manage experiencing a “No” from the cloudy weather isn’t something we always like. We can learn to be accepting.

Remember our formula is Happiness + Success + Freedom + Durability = Durable Fulfillment.

The idea that she will never be able to see Jupiter again gave way to what could we see again?
What about going to an area where there are no city lights to an astronomy telescope?
What other things could we plan better in the future?

It takes time to fill in the holes in our boundary. It’s not an overnight process and usually the young are more impatient. Of course, you need someone to help coach you along to point out the gaps in your boundary so you can practice filling them in and creating doors.
