Flight testing Draco, the X10 3D-Printed Quadcopter
2 years ago

A good session today with Draco, the X10 3D-Printed quadcopter.
First flight attempts were sketchy, with lots of motor noise and oscillations evident. The PID controllers were adjusted between each flight until suddenly it felt flyable. Then I slowly gained confidence to fly further afield and throw it around a little bit. The motors were never above 40% power this whole time.
There is a way to go yet and these are only first steps, but it is very primising. This is a beast of a machine and it is quite awesome to watch it fly.
