Aside from the obvious injustice of a criminal justice system
that disproportionately affects black people. These racial disparities come at a high cost to individuals, families, and communities as well as communities A criminal conviction on an individual level has a negative impact on both employability and access to educational opportunities.
Housing and government services. At the community level, incarcerating people from poor communities disproportionately removes them from
economic resources and fuels poverty and justice cycles
As a result of system involvement, criminal justice contact has become the norm in a growing number of black Americans' lives
