Wat Tanit Rai, also spelled Wat Tanoodrai, is a small temple in Samut Songkhram province, west of Bangkok. It is a country temple featuring an old and a new part of the temple complex.

The new temple was recently completed after taking 10 years to build. The historic part of the complex is an Ayutthaya style ordination hall dating back over 200 years. The original building is in excellent condition and has some ancient Chinese plates built into the walls. The historic building has never been restored and has the original pant still on the inside.

It’s not far from some other attractions in the area like Ampawa and Damnoen Saduak floating markets. If you are in the area it is worth a stop to see the 2 contrasting styles of building from the brand new to the ancient. The colors are also a contrast from purple and pink to white.
