LEADERS KNOW GENUINE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM FROM JEALOUS COMPARISONS OR COMPETITION

“It is easy to criticize, condemn and complaint. This is why almost every good leadership coach will tell you it is a practice to abandon. At the same time, it is the role of a good leader to provide feedback which will contribute to making those they lead better. Improvement in performance, productivity, attitude, relationships and accomplishments will almost always follow genuine constructive criticism.

When a leader or peer is immature, that criticism will not be constructive but rather petty, competitive, comparison. The feedback type does not drive toward improvement but rather is designed to destroy self confidence and effectiveness. Leaders should not participate in petty, competitive comparisons, they should offer genuine constructive criticism which drives improvement.” J Loren Norris
