The gas, primarily methane, being spread into the Baltic Sea is being described as an ecological disaster, with no time frame yet for repair works to begin. There are reportedly four different leaks identified ranging up to 1km in diameter on the surface. The pipelines could discharge as much as five times the amount of greenhouse gas as released by the Aliso Canyon disaster, the largest known terrestrial release of methane in U.S. history. It is also the equivalent of one third of Denmark's total annual emissions, a Danish official warned. "Whoever ordered this should be prosecuted for war crimes and go to jail," said Rob Jackson, a Stanford University climate scientist. Footage is from the Armed Forces of Denmark.
