The Born Again Experience

My message today is going to start in St. John chapter 3 about Nicodemus, who was the leader of the Pharisees at that time.

John 3:1-2
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Now, here was the leader of the Jewish nation at the time, admitting that Jesus came from God because he did miracles, and admitted that it could not be done except he be from God and God be with him. Isn't that something?

John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

This applies to every one reading this. Jesus said, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God, let alone enter into it. You won't even see it unless you're born again. There's a whole lot of talk about being born again these days, but very few people know what that actually means, even some of those trying to preach it.

John 3:4-5
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Water and the Spirit. Except you repent and are baptized, you cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That's what Jesus is talking about.

John 3:6
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

When you repent, get baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit, then you become a spiritual man. But until you become a spiritual man, you're a fleshly person, and flesh profiteth nothing according to the Word of God. Your flesh is worthless in the sight of God, unless it has the Spirit of God in it.

John 3:7-8
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

When I first repented and received the Holy Spirit, I didn't know where it came from and I didn't know where it was going to take me. But the last 33 years have felt so good, I don't care where it came from. Now I know where it's going to take me: the kingdom of God. I have entered into the kingdom of God by being born again of the water, of the blood, and of the Spirit, by faith in Jesus Christ.\
